4 th Annual NWA Hook-in & Rug Show coming soon....

What have I been working on lately you ask?Well, the NWA Hook-in is coming up very soon and I have been working to get it all ready.Keeping track of who has paid, answering e-mails,talking to vendors and planning the rug show are just a few of the things I have been doing to get everything ready for the big day.It is not to late if you want to come.We have over 100 people already signed up to come and I know there are more to come.
I have also been getting things ready for the next Eureka Springs Rug Hooking Camp.Susan Quickall from Texas is coming to town and I can't wait.Susan is the owner of "Holly Hill Designs" and she has beautiful rug patterns.More about this later.

Here are a few pics from last years Hook-in.This is some of the ladies checking in.Boy, do we need a lot of stuff or what.
A view across the room as the ladies hook and visit.

This rug was being worked on at the Hook-in by Wilma Hill. I heard that she now has the rug all done.Way to go Wilma!

Here are two of the ladies from Eureka Springs having a great time.I hope we have a great turnout this year and I know we will be doing a lot of talking and hooking.Come join us.

A Visit with Victoria Hart and Tom Ingalls...

This weekend Adam and I made a road trip to visit Victoria Hart and Tom Ingalls. You may remember that Victoria taught at my last rug hooking camp.We really got to know each other and we wanted to spend more time together. We have a lot in common, like we where married 6 day apart.
We spent all day Saturday shopping and site seeing. After some good Bar-B-Q we came back to their home and Victoria and I talked rug hooking and she helped me with my angel I hooked in her class.

Adam played his banjo for us and he and Tom talked a lot of guy stuff.
Here you see Victoria with a doll she hooked. It was SO cute and made of all wool.

Before we had to leave this morning Victoria showed us a rug her mom Ruth is working on.It is about 10 feet by 12 feet.I forgot to ask but I think it is a 3 cut.It is beautiful. This is the second rug this size she has hooked.

Victoria with her Mom's rug.

On our way home we got off the highway to go back to a shop we could see for the highway but could not find the road to get to it.We made a wrong turn and ended up on Bluegrass Lane, so I had to get Adam's picture with it.
We really had a great time and we hope to repeat it many times. Thank you Tom and Victoria for being great host.

Live Deeply and go make a new friend,

War Eagle Craft Fair

This year's War Eagle was a first for me in the 17 years I have doing it.It rained most of the week leading up to the fair, but that was nothing new, it almost always rains War Eagle Weekend. What was a surprise was first they came around Friday afternoon and told us we could close at 4:00.We had some rain most of the day but not ever hard rain, just a lite rain off and on all day. But, there was not many people there shopping.I have never seen anything like it.I thought sales would be down this year but I thought the people would come and still look. That did not happen at all.
Then just after we left at 4:00 a hail storm came in and that night it rained so much the river came up 6 feet. The next morning we get there and wad though the water and mud to get to my booth. That is when we saw the river. Now so you know my booth and Evonne and Gerrit"s booth are the closest to the river SOOOOO...you can imagine what we are thinking...RUN!!!! We are then told the fair was closed and to pack up NOW! "but don't worry" we have a few hours before the river will get out of it's banks.

I don't know about you but that much water scares me.Adam and I packed up in record time and just about the time we are taking the tent down it really starts to rain. But, we get packed and back home by 10:00.I hope no one came from a long way to see the fair and waisted a trip.
Last time this happened was in 1990 before I started doing the show.If you came out to the fair "Thank you" and if you did not, make plans to come in the fall,Third weekend in Oct.
Live Deeply and some bring me a umbrella.

Can you say RAIN!!!!

I have been doing War Eagle Craft fair for 17 years and I have to say today was the worst day we have ever had.We had a lite rain off and on all day but the heavy rain did not start till after we went home.I can remenber years that we had a lot more rain and the people still came and shopped. Some of my biggest day were wet and rainy. But today the people just did not come out.It was very sad to see.
If you are thinking of coming out to the show put on your rain coat and come see all the artist and venders that are there waiting for people to talk to.
Here is Evonne in front of their booth. We have been next to each other for 17 years and have watched each others kids grow up and now we are watching grandkids.Go look at Evonne's blog at "Outside of the Box"

Live deeply and come play in the rain with us.
