"Arkansas Rug Hooking Tradition and Innovation" rug show..

Sept 25 was the Reception to meet the artists at the "Arkansas Rug Hooking Tradition and Innovation" rug show at the University of the Ozarks.Adam and I took off work to make the drive down to Clarksville where the show was being held.

We made a stop at one of my favorite places, the Historic Boxley Valley. Here Adam stands at a crossing of the Buffalo National River. He took the time to smoke his pipe.

Laura Thompson stands with some of her rugs.Laura is the one that got this wonderful show all put together. She is a McGown certified teacher and has been hooking and teaching more than 15 years.Thank you Laura for all you do for the rug hooking world.

More of Laura's rugs.

Karen Williams is from Wisconsin, but now makes her home in Arkansas. She is a McGown certified teacher with more than 15 years of experience in the field. She has won many awards for her work at the Arkansas State Fair.

Aileen Anderson of Hot Springs Village is a McGown certified hooking teacher with 12 years experience. She has been teaching at the "Ozark Mountain Folk Center" for the past few years.

More of Aileen's rugs.

Here is Aileen and me in front of my rugs.

Wilma Hill lived many years in Baton Rouge, but now makes her home in Fort Smith,Ar.

Wilma is a McGown certified teacher with nearly 40 years of experience. In the fall of 2008 her rug of the "Great Seal of Louisiana"was displayed in the Old Governor's Mansion Museum in Baton Rouge.

Wilma could not be there that night I am sad to say.

Then there is little old me and my rugs. This was such a honor to be in the same show with these ladies.Someday I hope to take classes from each one of the great talented ladies.

More of my rugs. And may I say that when you walked into this room it looked like an Art Show, a real Art Show!!!Thank you again Laura.

Many of the students of the University came the the show and got to talk to them.It was so much fun.

More students.

That is me in the floor showing the rug I am working on now.One poor student did not know what she was starting when she asked what I was working now.hehe

This is what the hubbies do at a rug show.Adam talks to Aileen's hubby Berry.

Thank you for letting me show-off a bit.

Northwest Arkansas Heirloom Doll Club..

Saturday I went to the Northwest Arkansas Heirloom Doll Club's 8th Annual Fall Luncheon .This years theme was Raggedy Ann and Friends. It was a lot of fun to see all the dolls and some of the ladies dressed like Raggedy Ann and Andy.

Here is a few of the dolls that where in the show.

One of the highlights of the Luncheon the dolls from the Hoffman Challenge, a traveling show of dolls made using the same fabric.

This was my favorite doll in that show.I forgot to right down the name of the maker, but it was great.

This is some of my table mates.I loved having the little girl at our table just to see her face when the souvenir dolls were handed out.
