LIFE IS GOOD.

Today I woke up to a beautiful Morin in the Ozarks.It has cooled off some and will be a great day to be outdoors.As I drank my coffee I was watching my hummingbird feeder.I wish I could get a pic that would so how many we have fusing and fighting over that sweet water.I have to fill this feeder every day.I have never had so many birds before. I love watching this tiny little things. The male birds (red throat) are so bossy.I have counted as many as 20 trying to get their turn at the feeder.

If you stand on the point in front of our house and look away from the lake, this it what you will see.In the summer crazy people jump from this cliff.It about 60 feet to the water.I would like to say that I hate to see anyone jumping from the cliff.Two people hsve died doing that ,in the time I have lived here.

If you look close there is a cave under the right side.

Video up and working

Ok,I got the video of the water car working at the bottom of the page. Go check it out.There are 3 different videos so you can see most of what we saw.I did not get a good video of the front of the car because by the time I remembered I could do that with my camera he had turned around and headed away from use.He had to try two time to get up the bank of the lake.The water leave is still way up from all the spring rains we had.This part of the lake is now called party cove.

Word-of -the day,Dictionary

Just so you know I am a terrible speller.I think it is mostly because of my Okie accent.I spell like I talk,so to help me with this I keep a dictionary close at hand all the time.I have a great little one that is called the "Instant Spelling Dictionary"25,000 of the most useful English words.

So, I am going to start a Word-of -the-day.Each day I am going to list a new word or two and its meaning.

Boats and buddies

As Adam and I came home from work today we looked out upon the lake as we always do.Today we saw something we had never seen before.There coming across the lake this boat???car??? Of course we had to stop and get a better look.I took some video of it too and if I can figure out how I will put it on here.I don't know what you would call this thing but it was cool.I never pay much attention to the boats but it was hard to miss this sight.

This is my buddy Dana in class at http://www.esartschool.com/. I think she has taken more classes a ESSA this year then anyone.This week she is taking "Collage and Assemblage with found objects" with Chris Fischer.I stopped out by the school yesterday to see how things were going.What a lie!!!I am just jealous that I can't be there to.This class looked like such fun.I know Dana will be telling us all about it on her blog http://www.calicocatpress.blogspot.com/.

I do get to take a class next month Leaping Into Bead Sculpture with Eleanor Lux.I am really looking forward to that class. I think Dana is going to that one too.

Recycled wool into primitive folk art

I love to work with wool.Recycling old wool clothes is something I try to do anytime I can.Last month I taught my doll club how to dye recycled wool. This meeting we looked at ways of using the wool we dyed.

I made a cat and three dolls.I am very into primitive folk art.I think I got the look I was after using the old wool and old buttons.

Two of the dolls have wings cut from a scrap of blanket.All the stitching is on the outside of the doll.I really like that look for this doll.I also like using mismatched buttons for eyes.

Rug hooking

Dallas Prouty,Ken Jones and Karen Hill are all part of a Bluegrass band called "New Highway"

This is Adam picking his banjo and Tim Hill in the back. The band was HOT on Thursday night.Sweat was rolling off everyone. The band got together at the home of friends to eat and play.They call it playing for their dinner.Boy, can they eat.We had some of the best food ever.Everything was fresh from the garden.

One of the things you will learn about me if you ever see me out and about is that I always have something to work on with me. We go to a lot of bluegrass pickings and as Adam picks his banjo I hook rugs or needle felt.The kind of hooking I do is called Primitive Rug Hooking.Wide cuts of wool are use to make rugs wall hangings and other things.I will tell you more about rug hooking later.

This is the rug I am working on right now.I like to start with a piece of fabric and just start drawing on it to see what it makes.

First Doll in Round Robin

This is Plain Jane.She was started by Jeanne from Eugene, Oregon.

Plain Jane is an alien visiting earth for a vacation. She's very excited to meet all kinds of earthlings and see what they do. She's blue, compliments of Jeanne's hubby who said she should be that color. :) Right now she's really into her BEEEEEEutiful eyelashes. Her lashes have little blue gems on them.Cute!

Plain Jane landed at at Hogscald Hollow Friday and had to go right out on the porch and look at the lake.As you will see in the coming days, I will be showing her around.

I have to decide what I would like to do to her.Jeanne thinks Jane would like bat wings.I keep thinking that if I was new to this world I would start looking for bigger bags so I could take things home with me.
