What I Have Been Up To THis Week...

This week I got what my daddy calls a "wild-hair" and I took apart a room in my house. This is my guest room and it did not look inviting at all.I did not take pics of the gross carpet that was in there, you will just have to take my word for it. Bad!!!

So I ripped it up and through it out the door.

Here you can see the big hole I cut in the wall.See that pluming sticking out of the wall, it started life as a sink.Yes, there was a sink in the bedroom. My son-in-law did the hard part and capped off the pipes and then I put the wall back together. That is the wall behind him in the pic below.
Now comes the fun part, laying the carpet. Now you might ask way I did not just hire someone to come in and do it.Well, to make a long story short, a few years ago I had two men come to lay carpet in my bedroom and one of them had a heart attack and died.No more of that.

My sweet son-in-law Jay, did offer to help, so here we are working hard.
I think we did a great job.Look out Jay, we have four more rooms to go.

Now here is the room all done.It is my red, white and blue room.If you look close you can see that the walls are papered in brown paper sacks. It also has a hand painted border.

All ready for guest. My mother-in-law will be the first to stay in it, she is coming this weekend.
This is a old printers tray that I have had forever but it has not been hanging for years. Some of the little things in it I have had since I was a child.
I just had to add a little color to my lady.
I love this old wash table I found at a yard sale for 20.00. I am so happy to have one room all done.
By-the-way, Adam does not know what I have been up too.Boy will he be surprised when he gets home this weekend.
I just had to show you what my friend Jody gave me today.I have never seen anything like these but she knew just what they were.
Ain't they cute! Each one has info on the back that tells all about the animal.
It is all most rug hooking camp time so come back the rest of the week as I will be posting about it.

Live Deeply and go rip up some carpet,

Great Day At Rock Creek Hook-in..

We had a great day at the Rock Creek Hook-in Saturday.Jody and her hubby and Me and my hubby when up Friday afternoon and spent the night so we would be ready early Saturday. This is Jody helping at my booth.Thank you very much ,Jody for all your help.I would not have seen any of the other booths if it was not been for Jody's help.
Here I am filling the hooks with more pins. The display that Adam made me works great for the pins.
This sweet lady bought a little blue bird pins and it looked so cute on the jacket.
Here are some of the rugs that where the rug show.Idon't know who hooked most on them but I do know Tammy from Skip-to-my-ewe

I will post more later.

More from Lenexa....

Here are some more pictures from Lenexa's hook-in.The crowd was a little smaller then last year because of the 5-6 ins.of snow that started falling early Saturday and almost all day.I have never been to this hook-in that something was not falling from the sky,but that has not stopped me from going yet.
You can see here that a lot of talking was going on.I told Jody as we were leaving that I had flapped my lips so much talking, that they were chapped.

One of the ladies I meet there was Ginger of "primitives by the light of the moon". I wish I would have thought to get her picture. She was very sweet and I hope to meet her again.Ginger, if you read this I hope you will come to the Eureka Springs Hook-in.
Here you can some of the vender's booths and the people shopping.I think there was a lot more men there this year.
One of the groups had this great vest with their group name on them.
I have never seen JoJo that she is not smiling like this. Some of you may know her from "Wool Snippets".
Here you she Jody talking to Katie from Townsend cutters and as you can see Katie was busy writing orders.
The next tree pictures are all one rug.I wish I would have asked how big it was,my guess would be 5 foot by 7 foot.

Live Deeply and give someone a kiss today.

Day Two Of Hooker Camp

It is after midnight and I just got home from hooker camp.So this will be a quit post. Here Nola is teaching us how to crochet a edge of a rug.Everyone was very intent of what she was talking about.
This is Jody trying her hand it a crocheted edge on a little mat.She was sure making faces as she did it.

A big part of camp is getting to know each other at meal time. This is Jody, Loralee,Kathleen and Mary Jane. OK, girls no talking with your mouths full.
